exploitation of power
i recently assumed the role of Vice President of our illustrious library faculty association with my main responsibility being the organization of monthly meeting forums. the forums, held immediately after the real business, are to cover "general areas of interest" to members of the library community. i, just now, am returning from an outgoing/incoming officers meeting at which it was confirmed that the new illustrious President and new illustrious Secretary are certified food people. therefore, I Hereby Declare This: Year of the Food Forum. i think it will rock. ideas generated in our meeting:
- a regular restaurant review/tip-o-the-month
- coffee tasting
- how to bbq, southern style
- cake decorating
- an introduction to slow food
- meat forum (we could do an, i don't know, tempeh forum, too, just to be fair)
- coffee cake-off
- Iron Chef style bake-off between Bruce and Karen
- cheese 101
- garden samples, in which those who have vegetable gardens are encouraged to bring in home grown produce, prepared in tasty dishes
other ideas? feel free to share!

How about a most-likely-to-contain-roadkill chili cook off?
I so want to see an Iron Chef battle between Bruce and Karen, maybe this could be a fundraiser...sell tickets to it to raise money so everyone can go out to try new resturants in town. :)
Dude, you are going to have to come up with a more specific category than "Southern Style" for your BBQ. Unless you mean "Southern-Oregon style," which probably consists of massaging spotted owls with a dry marijuana rub then burying them in a pit. But... Texas? Kansas City? Memphis? North Carolina? South Carolina? Kentucky mutton? You could just decide that this is the year of the BBQ forum!

south carolina style bbq, all the way. not that i have a clue what that means. but my colleague in command of the illustrious organization would, no doubt, insist.
